Academic Focus
Austin Peay State University requires all freshman without a declared major to select Academic Focus (Undeclared) with a meta-major pathway.
- Our expertise is focused on the General Education Core requirements and working with students to identify potential majors during their freshmen year.
- Students prepare to declare a major within three semesters. Once a student has earned 42 credit hours, they will need to declare their major to their intended bachelor's degree or change their major to the Associates of Science in University Studies.
- Academic Focus students complete their general education core requirements and collaborate with a professional academic advisor each semester to explore possible majors, learn degree requirements, and receive assistance with advisement and registration.
Advising appointments are required during pre-registration periods and strongly encouraged at all times. You should call at least a week in advance to schedule your appointment. Appointments may be made by calling us at (931) 221-6643 or stopping by the office at McReynolds 118.
